Since its founding in 1917, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists has been a pillar of the world-wide scientific community. The original purpose of AAPG, to faster scientific research, to advance the science of geology, to promote technology, and to inspire high professional conduct, still guides the Association today. Currently the world's professional geological society with over 30,000 members, in over 116 countries around the world. About American Association Of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)

The University of Delhi AAPG Student Chapter was formed on 4th September 2013. After establishing the chapter the faculty advisor and the officers were elected. Dr.Pramod Kumar became the chapter’s faculty advisor. He is the professor of Stratigraphy and sedimentology at the Department of Geology. Since its formation the chapter has been very active.
